Located in Downtown Decatur, the Lincoln Square Lounge is open Monday through Saturday for lunch and dinner. In addition to our famous gyros, we also serve other Greek speciality items including Greek Salad and Saganaki. A new, expanded menu is coming soon, but in the meantime, click here to view our current menu.

History

After the repeal of prohibition in 1933, Greek immigrant Angelo Chiligiris was issued the first liquor license in Decatur and started the Lincoln Square Tavern. In those days, Lincoln Square was the central hub of Decatur’s social and business district. Angelo is fondly remembered for operating a respectable establishment where his patrons would gather to relax and discuss local affairs.

Over the years, Angelo’s son Jim Chiligiris and nephew George Chiligiris joined him in operating the Lincoln Lounge. Jim and George were partners for more than 35 years, and in the early 1980s, they expanded the Lounge into a full service restaurant. The two partners worked together to continue the Lincoln’s inviting atmosphere while introducing authentic Greek cuisine to Decatur, including their now famous gyro sandwiches. George Chiligiris’s two sons Christopher and Kostaki then operated the establishment for the following 10 years.

Today, Angelo’s grandson Andrew and the staff welcome you to the newly remodeled Lincoln Lounge. As the third generation of the Chiligiris family to operate this establishment, we strive to uphold the honored traditions of our fathers and forefathers. Please let us know if we may do anything to improve your social and dining experience.
